In Puerto Vallarta, you can have your wedding in a Catholic church with a priest, civil ceremony, Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish or a spiritual wedding on the beach. We enjoy doing weddings for all couples, regardless of their beliefs.

To legalize your wedding in Puerto Vallarta you are required to have a civil ceremony with the Officiate from the Civil Registry Department. This takes 30 minutes. Please take a minute to evaluate the different criteria and decide what works best for you.

  Requirements:

  • Passport: required of all visitors to Mexico including Americans and Canadians as of January 2008

  • Birth Certificate: a certified copy with an attachment called an “apostle” you can get from your Vital Statistics Department of the state or province you were born. You need to have this translated into Spanish by an authorized translator

  • Divorce decree or Death Certificate - legible copy is acceptable.

  • Certificate of Name Change. – legible copy is acceptable.

  • Blood Tests – you are required by law to have blood tests done prior to the ceremony, But no more than 15 days before.

    The test is for blood type compatibility only.

    There are no other tests required.

  • Witnesses – two are required. They can be friends or family (not parents) and must be 18 or older.

  • Briefing – this is mandatory and there are NO EXCEPTIONS. You are required to watch a short video about marriage.

  • Information Sheet - You will get at the Civil Registry and will need to fill it out before the wedding.

  • Note:If another nationality marries a Mexican then there will be other documents to fill out from Immigrations.
